Immunity and defense
How it works
An antibiotic designed to hit LptD, an outer-coat protein that only Pseudomonas bacteria have in this form. Sniper, not shotgun.
What it's made of
14 amino acids in a hairpin-shaped ring, designed from protegrin I, a natural antimicrobial. It was redesigned not to burst membranes and to attack a single protein, LptD, which only Pseudomonas has in this form.
What it's for
- Prescribed for
- Nothing.
- Sold as
- A sniper antibiotic: it only kills Pseudomonas, even the ones that already resist colistin.
Educational satire, not medical advice.
