Immunity and defense
How it works
An antibiotic your skin and white cells cut from cathelicidin; vitamin D turns its gene on. Sold for infections and wounds.
What it's made of
The last 37 amino acids of human cathelicidin (170), the only one of its family in our species. Neutrophils and the skin make the cathelicidin, and an enzyme cuts it to release LL-37. The synthetic one is identical.
What it's for
- Prescribed for
